Building Antebellum New Orleans with Tara A. Dudley
Date: Thursday, Nov. 3, 1:30 - 3 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. Location: Science Auditorium and Dishman Theater
Hosted by the Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast, Tara Dudley will discuss the architectural activities and influence of gens de couleur libres — free people of color — and show how they expressed group identity through property ownership and built culture in New Orleans. The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Science Auditorium and at 5:30 p.m. in the Dishman Museum Auditorium.

Resilience and Recovery Research Summit Abstract Submission Deadline
The Center for Resiliency is hosting the fourth annual Research Summit "Uniting the Community" in March 2023. Abstract submission is open from Oct. 10 until Dec. 10, 2022.

McNair Scholars Application Deadline Extended
The application deadline for the 2023 cohort of the McNair Scholars program has been extended until Nov. 1. Students who meet eligibility requirements and have a strong interest in research and preparing for graduate study are encouraged to apply by visiting www.lamar.edu/mcnair/application.html.
