The Íæż½ã½ã Becky and Chuck Mason-STEM Initiative is a paid STEM Teaching Internship Program. The goal of this program is to increase the number of well-prepared science and math teachers to serve in Southeast Texas and beyond.

Last Call for "A Resiliency Reader" Submissions
Deadline: Sunday, April 30, 11:59 p.m.
This is the last call for submissions. The Center for Resiliency is publishing a book of collected works from the Lamar community, including LIT, Lamar State College Orange and Lamar State College Port Arthur. We're accepting poetry, short fiction, personal/scholarly essays and art. Tell us your story of resilience. Five submissions will be awarded $100 each.

New Group of Students Chosen to be SGA Representatives
Íæż½ã½ã students have elected a new group of offcers to represent them in the 2023-24 academic year. Jonah Smith, a junior from Port Neches, Texas, has been elected president of the Student Government Association. Tony Lopez Maldonado, from Guanajuato, Mexico, was voted to be vice president. Ogor Nwaobi, from Beaumont, was voted to be the secretary treasurer.

Campus Malwarebytes Removal Happening This Week
Íæż½ã½ã Information Technology is consolidating on Microsoft Defender as the campus-wide anti-virus software. From Monday, April 17, until Thursday, April 20, the Malwarebytes software will be removed from computers after business hours, as a reboot will be done. Please leave all computers on overnight to facilitate this removal.
Failure to leave the computer turned on during this time may cause a reboot during the workday. Please make sure to save all work and close applications prior to leaving each day.

System Outage Due to Annual Disaster Recovery Test on April 21-23
Due to the scheduled annual Disaster Recovery Systems Test, the Íæż½ã½ã systems will experience intermittent outages between 5 p.m. Friday, April 21, through 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23.
The following services will be periodically unavailable during this time: Self-Service Banner, Internet Native Banner, Argos Reporting, Xtender Imaging System, Appworx job processing, student information, online password reset services, library catalog, and Cardinal Purch.
The following services will not be impacted: Íæż½ã½ã website, Blackboard, email, online course evaluations, campus internet and phone services. If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact the Service Desk at (409) 880-2222 or email servicedesk@lamar.edu.
