This spring KVÍæż½ã½ã celebrates 50 years of public broadcasting in Southeast Texas. Our golden anniversary giving campaign begins on Monday, April 22 and will conclude with a 50th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, April 30. You can renew your membership or become a new member now at kvlu.org.

Denim Day
Show Your Support on Denim Day

Date: Wednesday, Apr. 24, noon - 2 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center

Join Health Education in supporting victims and survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim on Denim Day, which was created from a court case that released a perpetrator of sexual assault based on the victim’s clothing.

Íæż½ã½ã Dean of Library Candidates to Present at Open Forum

The candidates for Dean of the Library will be interviewing on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
 
They are presenting in an open forum for students, faculty and staff each day. The topic is "Tomorrow’s Library Today," with candidates describing innovations in higher education libraries.

Making Space for Women with Jennifer Ross-Nazzal

Jennifer Ross-Nazzal “explores how careers for women at the Johnson Space Center have changed over the last fifty years as … fields once close to women … began to open.” She is the historian at Johnson Space Center and editor of the anthology Making Space for Women (2022). This event is free and open to all.

Spring Concert - Spindletop
Touchdown Throwdown

Date: Friday, Apr. 26, 8:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Location: Spindletop Boomtown Museum

Come out and celebrate the end of the semester with live music featuring Dende, who has more than 230,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. This event is free for students. Food and drinks will be available at Spindletop Boomtown Museum, and there will be door prizes throughout the event. Must be 18 or older to attend.

Apollo 13
Apollo 13 at Jefferson Theatre

Date: Friday, Apr. 26, 7 - 10 p.m.
Location: Jefferson Theatre (345 Fannin Street in Beaumont)

The Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast and the City of Beaumont will host a screening event featuring Apollo 13 at the Jefferson Theatre. Before the film, Dr. Jennifer Ross-Nazzal (Johnson Space Center historian) will speak on “Apollo 13 from Earth: Inside Mission Control and the Race to Bring the Crew Home.”

KVÍæż½ã½ã 50th
KVÍæż½ã½ã Celebrates 50 Years

Staff and friends of invite the public to join them in celebrating 50 years of public broadcasting in Southeast Texas on Tuesday, April 30t from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Live Oak Ballroom in the Setzer Student Center. The event will include refreshments, live music and much more.

NSA Lamar
National Stuttering Association Beaumont/Lamar Chapter Meeting

The NSA plays a vital role in letting people who stutter know that they are not alone. It’s estimated that over 160 Lamar faculty, students and staff share the common experience of stuttering. Come join us either in person or via Zoom.

Free Septic System Clinic Coming to Íæż½ã½ã

Date: Tuesday, May 7, 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Science & Technology Building, Room 203

This informal clinic offers homeowners with septic systems the opportunity gain basic understanding of its operation and maintenance. Learn about a grant program focused on understanding bacterial transport pathways in the Neches River Tidal watershed. Q&A will be offered with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Wasterwater Specialists.
