Welcome Inside! It Sucks Here. You’ll Do Great! is a graphic design thesis, manifesting as a modular poster installation that extends an open invitation into the designer's mind. This innovative body of work offers a candid exploration of her internal monologue and her experience navigating society as an individual living with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other interconnected mental health conditions. Through a thoughtful blend of digital and analog methods, this project takes shape, incorporating personal, handcrafted elements alongside meticulously designed digital assets.
Comprising four 18” by 24” posters as its centerpiece, this collection is enveloped by an array of smaller 8.5” by 11” posters. These smaller pieces employ photography, bold phrasing, vibrant color palettes, weaving, sewing, and intentional tearing to vividly illustrate the dynamic and often chaotic tapestry of thoughts that inhabit the designer's mind. These thoughts occur simultaneously, mirroring the complex interplay of her experiences. By sharing her personal struggles with unwavering candor, the designer aspires to empower and encourage conversations around mental health disorders, working to dispel the stigma that often surrounds them.
