The Houston Gas Processors Association has awarded three students from the College of Engineering the Houston GPA scholarship.

The Íæż½ã½ã recipients, mechanical engineering majors, Britney Sumayah and Christian Chavez ’21 and electrical engineering major, Eduardo Reyes, were all awarded $4,000 each.

In 2002, the Houston GPA established $25,000 endowed scholarships at six Texas universities, including Íæż½ã½ã. Dr. Brian Craig, dean of the College of Engineering at Íæż½ã½ã, says it’s an opportunity that sets Íæż½ã½ã engineering students up for success.

"We are so grateful to the Houston Gas Processors Association for designating Íæż½ã½ã as one of the six universities to receive ongoing scholarship endowments," Craig said. “Íæż½ã½ã engineers have always been well-placed to enter the oil and gas industry thanks to our proximity to one of the most economically important regions in the world, and this scholarship recognizes outstanding students who have an interest in continuing in that tradition."

The non-profit organization provides the endowed and annually funded scholarship to students who are pursuing an education program or career in the Midstream Industry.
